A remarkable discovery of ancient animal bones has been made by Thompsons of Prudhoe at their Haughton Strother sand and gravel quarry in Northumberland. Thompsons machine operator local man John Rutherford was amazed to see a huge horned animal skull emerging from his excavations while removing sand and gravel from several metres below the ground surface.

Thompsons have been appointed to conduct asbestos removal, soft strip and demolition works at the Trinity Square Development Site in Gateshead. Works will include the demolition of Gatesheads Trinity Square car park (known by many as the Get Carter Car Park or Gateshead Multi Storey Car Park), the associated in-door market, the adjacent Tesco Superstore and the properties that line Ellison Street, High Street and Trinity Square.
[More...]Ore Un-loader No.1 - Corus UK, Redcar Wharf
Thompsons have recently completed the dismantling of Ore Un-loader No.1, located at Corus UKs Redcar Wharf. The Ore-Unloader weighed approximately 1500 tonnes and stood at a height of 66m. The structure was dismantled into sections using oxy/propane hot cutting equipment. The sections, each weighing approximately 65t, were lifted from their resting position via the aid of a 1000 tonne crane and transferred into a processing area at ground level.

Thompsons recently completed selected strip out and demolition works at the Eldon Square Scheme 3 development. These latest works were part of an ongoing series of developments at the shopping centre which is located within a busy commercial area in Newcastle upon Tyne city centre. The development area totals approximately 16,000m2.
