Earthworks
As part of a demolition package or stand alone contract, Thompsons carries out earthworks from the initial site survey to the creation of a levelled and hard-cored site for handover to client or follow-on contractor.
Utilising the vast knowledge of its experienced staff and the versatility of its modern plant, contracts of any size - both on and offsite - are successfully completed.
With access to both quarried and recycled aggregates, Thompsons' fleet of trucks can provide economical supplies of backfill and roadstone, ensuring many trucks are full on both their outward and return journeys to earthworks sites.
The remediation of brownfield sites is now an integral part of Thompsons' day-to-day work with the technical back-up of its environmental management team.
Major earthworks contracts in recent years have included:
- Creation of a new lagoon at Alcan, Lynemouth
- Reclamation and site preparation for MetroCentre, Gateshead
- Preparing three miles of the A689 in Sedgefield for conversion into a dual carriageway
- Remediation of former Gasworks site at Willington, North Shields for Bellways Homes.
- Bulk Earthworks & Demolition at Freeman & RVI Hospitals Newcastle for Laing O Rouke.
- Remediation of 10 Hectares of Land in readiness for the construction of The Baltic Business Park Gateshead for Tolent Construction.
